The Opportunity: Interim Group COO (12-Week Leadership Contract)

As we enter a pivotal period of expansion and transformation, the CEO of ECG will be stepping back from day-to-day operations for 12–16 weeks. During this time, we are appointing a visionary, strategic, and operationally excellent Interim Chief Operating Officer to take full executive control of the company.

This is not just a “maintenance” role — this is an opportunity to lead, build, drive, optimise, and scale a thriving organisation that has its sights set on £1.22 million in annual sales and long-term global impact.

You’ll work at the highest level across all agency brands, managing a team of 15+, leading sales efforts, tightening operations, boosting morale, and ensuring we don’t just stay on track — but accelerate.

Key Responsibilities

 Executive Authority & Leadership

  • Assume full executive control of the business in the CEO’s absence, becoming the primary decision-maker and figurehead of ECG.

  • Represent ECG in all senior-level conversations, high-stakes client calls, partnerships, and internal leadership matters.

  • Maintain strong alignment with the CEO via structured weekly check-ins and milestone updates.

 Sales, Revenue & Growth

  • Own the company’s monthly and quarterly sales targets and lead the commercial team in delivering against our £ 1.22 M+ annual sales goal.

  • Motivate and direct sales teams to increase performance, improve close rates, and upsell across our brand portfolio.

  • Analyse and optimise the full sales funnel — from outbound strategy to onboarding — and introduce new processes that scale results.

Team Leadership & HR Culture

  • Manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team of designers, strategists, developers, marketers, and client success managers.

  • Set clear performance objectives and create a culture of high achievement, recognition, and accountability.

  • Run weekly team meetings, conduct reviews, and create frameworks to track progress and morale.

Operational Systems & Scalability

  • Oversee the smooth operation of daily functions across all business units — including client delivery, customer service, finance, HR, and product development.

  • Build and refine operational systems to make ECG more efficient, scalable, and data-driven.

  • Solve internal bottlenecks and create streamlined workflows and processes that future-proof the business.

Innovation & Strategic Development

  • Identify new verticals, service lines, or target markets to help ECG expand its offering and revenue base.

  • Implement forward-thinking strategies that elevate the company’s market position and improve client satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with creative, tech, and marketing teams to roll out innovative ideas and digital-first solutions.

Reporting & KPI Management

  • Introduce performance dashboards that track revenue, client wins, team performance, and delivery timelines.

  • Report results weekly to the CEO with clear analysis and actionable next steps.

  • Take full ownership of business continuity, risk management, and compliance while maintaining creative freedom.

Ideal Candidate Profile

This is a senior, strategic, and hands-on executive role, best suited to someone who thrives on autonomy, moves quickly, and leads with authority. You should be driven by both structure and innovation — knowing how to manage a team today while building for tomorrow.

Must-Have Experience & Expertise:

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (COO, Managing Director, VP Operations, etc.)

  • Demonstrated success in scaling sales, optimising business operations, and delivering measurable results

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading both creative and commercial departments

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, creative agencies, or online service businesses

  • Exceptional leadership presence — able to command a room, inspire a team, and communicate with clarity

Desirable:

  • Experience in interim leadership, business turnarounds, or change management

  • Familiarity with CRM systems, automation tools, project management software, and performance tracking platforms

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and high emotional intelligence

  • Previous experience scaling a start-up or high-growth company

Compensation, Benefits & Bonuses

  • Base Salary: £1,000 per week (paid weekly or monthly)

  • Performance Bonus: Up to £5,000 per month based on sales performance and KPIs

  • Signing Bonus: £1,000 (paid at the end of your first week)

  • Total Potential Earnings: £12,000 – £30,000 over the 12-week contract

  • Flexibility: Remote/hybrid working with full decision-making autonomy

  • Opportunity: Strong pathway to permanent employment, potential for equity and board seat
